Amber Scott was 38 weeks pregnant when she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Her baby, Adeline, was delivered during an emergency c-section. Doctors removed a blood clot from Amber’s brain then transferred her to the care of neurosurgeon Frank Culicchia M.D., who temporarily removed Amber’s skull bone to allow Amber’s swollen brain to heal. Six weeks later, Amber was doing much better, undergoing physical therapy every day. She made great progress, with good cognitive function.
The story got the attention of NBC’s Today show and Dr. Andrea Toomer was interviewed about what’s ahead for Amber.
