The Leingang family has been honoring the memory of Gary Leingang by recognizing May 9, his birthday, as a day to raise awareness about brain cancer by urging everyone to wear gray that day.
The Louisiana Legislature participated with a resolution in Baton Rouge declaring May 9 as “Louisiana Gray Day” annually.
“My husband, Gary Leingang, died from brain cancer in 2010 and one of the last things he asked us to do was to make something good come of his death,” Mona Leingang said.
The need for more research to find a cure is a priority. Donations may be made to the LSU Health Sciences Foundation’s Kelsey Bradley Favrot Chair in neuro-oncology will go toward increasing brain cancer research resources in Louisiana. Visit:
