Amelia P. suffered from dizziness that only seemed to worsen. It began to affect the way she walked to the point that she could barely move. She went to see Neurosurgeon Frank Culicchia who performed a simple test for hydrocephalus, a condition where excess fluid builds in the brain. Dr. Culicchia drained fluid from her lumbar spine and had a physical therapist compare her ability to walk before and afterwards.
Once the fluid was drained, Amelia was noticeably better, which confirmed Dr. Culicchia’s diagnosis. He surgically implanted a shunt to drain this excess fluid. She felt better almost immediately. Watch the video for details.
