Life’s Better with Exercise

Fifty-nine-year-old Harris Scott of Marrero is proof that you are never too old to embark on an exercise program. A bout of polio as a child left Mr. Scott with weakness in his legs. Dr. Andrea Toomer of Culicchia Neurological Clinic prescribed physical therapy and exercise.
Mr. Scott was immediately impressed by the results of the regular, coordinated exercise regimen.

He started with physical therapy 3 times a week. “It was amazing,” he said. “Not only did I experience losing some weight but it also increased my leg strength.”

So pleased with the results, Mr. Scott began exercising twice a week at the West Jefferson Fitness Center. ” I have more energy. I ride the bike, do stretching,  leg and upper body exercises and weights. When I leave I feel great.”

Dr. Toomer encourages her patients to exercise for 30 to 45 minutes three or four times a week, maintain a healthy diet and keep away from tobacco.  Watch this video to learn more.
