ROBERT C. DAWSON ANEURYSM LECTURESHIP

True to its mission of furthering brain aneurysm research and support, Brain Support NOLA  announced establishment of the Robert C. Dawson Aneurysm Lectureship Fund at LSU Health Department of Neurosurgery.

The fund was set up in honor of Dr. Robert Dawson, an esteemed interventional neuroradiologist at Culicchia Neurological Clinic and Clinical Professor at LSU Dept. of Neurosurgery in New Orleans. “Many of our volunteers and supporters are aneurysm survivors thanks to Dr. Dawson’s skill and expertise. We are also fortunate to have his counsel as a member of the board of Brain Support Nola,” said Rebecca Winchell, president of the board and founder of Brain Support Nola.

Brain Support Nola’s initial donation of $45,000 will be used to support costs associated with inviting a visiting professor to the Neurosurgery Department at LSU Health Sciences Center. The intent of the funds is to allow the Neurosurgery Department to invite at least two visiting professors per academic year to provide a lecture in regards to aneurysm research and treatment to the department’s residents and faculty.

In a letter to the nonprofit, LSU Foundation President Matthew Altier wrote: “Your gift to the School of Medicine to establish a lectureship fund in honor of Dr. Robert C. Dawson ensures our continued success in educating tomorrow’s health care providers, performing cutting edge research, delivering excellent patient care, and engaging the community with outreach programs that enlighten, empower, and improve the health of Louisiana citizens.”

Brain Support Nola sponsors the Aces Against Aneurysms tennis tournaments at Pelican Athletic Club in Mandeville, now in its 10th year. The 2018 tournament raised over $14,000 in donations.
