ABOUT NEW ORLEANS AREA PHYSICAL MEDICINE DR. SHIVANI GUPTA
Specialties: Physical medicine and rehabilitation, Spasticity and other signs of upper motor syndrome
Shivani Gupta, DO, became interested in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation while in medical school, after her mother became weakened by a serious illness. She witnessed the benefits of physical rehab and therapies to restore strength, movement and quality of life. Dr. Gupta had additional training in the field of spasticity management which she feels represents “a condition that is under-diagnosed and under-treated”. She became committed to learning the art and multimodal approach to maximize the benefit of her patients. “I saw a lot of patients suffering from spasticity that was being inappropriately managed. There’s so much that we can do for it. As each patient is unique, I wanted to learn every angle possible to appropriately help patients optimize their function.”
“There is life after the diagnosis and I want to focus on that.” – Shivani Gupta, DO
